Translate any EV into MPG you can actually use
MPGe says how much energy an EV uses. It doesn't say what you'll pay. These two numbers do, using your local prices.

What the two numbers mean
Cost-equivalent MPG is your local gas price divided by the EV's cost per mile. If it says 88 MPG, driving the EV costs the same per mile as a gas car getting 88 MPG would, at today's prices where you live.
Your electric gas price is the EV's cost per mile multiplied by your gas car's MPG. If it says $1.20/gal, charging the EV is like buying gas for your current car at $1.20 a gallon.
Why MPGe misleads
MPGe treats 33.7 kWh as one "gallon" because that's how much energy a gallon of gasoline holds. Two drivers with the same EV get the same MPGe even if one pays 10¢/kWh and the other pays 40¢. Their costs per mile differ by four times.
