What we collect
The calculators run in your browser. We do not ask you to create an account. Hosting services receive ordinary web requests, including your IP address and requested URL. Entering a ZIP does not send it to our servers; opening a shared link containing a ZIP sends that URL to the hosting service. The optional VIN decoder is described below.
What your browser stores
Your calculator inputs, including your ZIP code, are kept in your browser's local storage so they carry between pages. The page address carries your calculator settings except your ZIP code. Share links you create with "Copy share link" include your inputs and your ZIP code, so anyone you send one to sees the same result. Use Reset calculator to clear saved inputs across all calculators on this device. You can also clear this site's data in your browser.
VIN lookup
If you use Look up by VIN, your browser sends that VIN to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's free vPIC decoder (vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov) to identify the vehicle. This happens only when you submit a lookup (click Look up or press Enter). We don't store the VIN, put it in the page address, or save it in your browser.
NHTSA receives that request directly from your browser, including your browser's IP address, as with any website you visit. NHTSA's own privacy policy applies to what it receives.
Analytics
The hosting configuration may enable Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure aggregate page views and performance. It is not loaded by the application itself. See Cloudflare Web Analytics for details.
Advertising
Advertising is disabled for this launch. The site does not load Google AdSense. If advertising is introduced, this policy and the required consent controls will be updated before ads are enabled.
Embedded widget
Sites that embed our MPG translator load it from our domain. The same rules apply, and the widget shows no ads.
